Aj is best known for designing systems that produce measurable results in the HLP Technique for improved swing mechanics, bat speed, exit velocity, throwing velocity, and overall athletic performance. His frameworks blend biomechanics, special strength training, and skill-specific development into repeatable, high-impact training models used by athletes and coaches across the country.
He holds certifications including the CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), Westside Barbell Special Strength Certification, Driveline Baseball’s Foundations of Pitching Certification, and is a Certified HLP Instructor. He is also a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist (FRCms) and Functional Range Strength Coach (FRSC), specializing in advanced joint control and tissue resilience.
Aj’s coaching journey began after a frustrating college baseball career and a short stint in professional independent baseball. Determined to understand why he — and so many others — underperformed despite their work ethic, he devoted himself to studying what actually drives elite development. That obsession led to the systems OPP is now known for.
Today, Aj leads OPP with a relentless focus on athlete outcomes — combining hitting instruction, strength & power development, throwing progressions, and mobility training into one unified system. His mission reflects that of OPP: to make an impact at the highest level by equipping athletes and coaches with the systems, structure, and support they need to succeed.
Aj Arroyo is the founder of Optimal Power Performance (OPP), a nationally recognized baseball development company with its HQ based in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the creator of theOPP Training Systems— a comprehensive, integrated approach to hitting development, strength & conditioning, throwing progression, and mobility training for serious baseball athletes.
